3D printed radio frequency filter for satellites is ready to go
It was interesting to read on www.3ders.org that additive manufacturing giant 3D Systems and Airbus Defense and Space have developed a validated and flight-ready 3D printed radio frequency (RF) filter for satellites. The filter is the first to pass testing and qualify for use in commercial telecommunications satellites.
The development work was supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) who are among SYMETA's supporters. The potential for 3D printing to produce lightweight but complex components for space applications has been known for a while and it is great to see applications being realised.
