Dr Gareth Ward has recently joined the SYMETA team based in sunny Exeter as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate.
Gareth is picking up the research baton from Dr Rhiannon Mitchell-Thomas who has moved on to a new role at the European Patent Office. We would like to thank Rhiannon for her contribution and to wish her well in her new life in The Netherlands.
Gareth joins SYMETA working with Professor Roy Sambles and Professor Alastair Hibbins, having obtained his Doctorate researching the design and manufacture of Acoustic Metamaterials. His work focussed on the importance of accounting for thermodynamic boundary layer effects, and the characterisation of structures that support air-based trapped acoustic surface waves.
Also new to the SYMETA team is Reza Gheisari. Reza is a PhD student working closely with Dr Daniel Engstrom and Dr Thanos Goulas on the manufacturing elements of the project.
A big welcome to both Gareth and Reza and we wish them well in their new roles.
